About the Artist

Mamta Jharia

Mamta Jharia is a self-taught abstract artist known for her bold, emotionally charged compositions that celebrate the power of color, texture, and movement. Born and brought up in India and now based in Italy, Mamta’s artistic voice is shaped by a rich cultural heritage and a deeply personal journey of creative exploration.

Her transition into the world of art came after a successful career as a marine engineer—a profession that instilled discipline, structure, and precision. Choosing to follow her true passion, Mamta dedicated herself fully to painting, developing her unique style through self-study, experimentation, and a fearless willingness to evolve.

Mamta works primarily with acrylic and oil colors, creating vibrant, layered works that reflect both spontaneity and intention. Her paintings are defined by luminous hues, expressive brushwork, and a dynamic use of form and texture. She often builds depth through multiple layers of paint, glazes, and textured mediums, allowing each piece to carry emotional resonance and visual intrigue.

Her creative process is intuitive and emotionally driven, guided more by feeling than by form. Each canvas is an invitation—to pause, to reflect, and to engage with the unspoken. Rather than depict external realities, Mamta’s art seeks to express inner landscapes, memory, energy, and emotion.

As a self-taught artist, Mamta draws inspiration from the world around her and within her. Her work has been recognized and collected by art lovers and collectors across the globe, admired for its honesty, vibrancy, and visual impact.

Now based in Italy, she continues to explore and expand her practice, creating artworks that speak a universal language of color, depth, and emotional discovery.

Artist Statement

As an abstract artist, I create from a place where feeling leads and form follows. My paintings are explorations of energy, color, and emotion—visual expressions of what cannot be put into words. Through the use of bold hues, layered textures, and dynamic movement, I aim to evoke a sense of depth, curiosity, and connection.

Born and brought up in India and now based in Italy, my work is deeply influenced by the cultural contrasts and transitions I’ve experienced. Though I began my career as a marine engineer, my passion for art eventually led me down a different path—one of creative freedom and discovery. As a self-taught artist, my process has always been intuitive, shaped by experimentation and the desire to express something honest and personal.

I work primarily with oil and acrylic paints, often building my canvases through multiple layers that reveal traces of what came before. This layering reflects the complexity of human experience—the visible and the hidden, the resolved and the unfinished. I don’t seek to replicate the external world, but to reflect inner landscapes: memories, sensations, and moments of emotional clarity.

My goal is not to explain the work, but to offer an open space—where each viewer brings their own story, interpretation, and feeling. If my paintings stir something within—whether comfort, energy, or quiet reflection—then the work has done what it was meant to do.

Art, to me, is a dialogue without words. A space where intuition meets imagination, and where both artist and viewer can feel seen.
